Paying the bills. Aka: Everything comes with a price.

Welcome Witches! Blessed be and Merry Meet! So, if you haven't figured me yet, my postings are few and far between, the massive project I intended LI2TW to be is apparently too much for me and I don't have as much to say as frequently as I need to...

So for this, not an actual issue but more of a rant, rave or an explosion of thought. Maybe its all of the above.

It isn't new to hear of witches selling their services for money, at least not for a palm or tarot reading, maybe even a cast of the stones or a crystal divination. But am I the only one who thinks selling magic is wrong? That it crosses some line, some unspoken pack made with the elements?

If I am to make a spell to help someone I'm not going to charge them for it because I'm not doing it for personal gain. I'm doing it to be helpful. They may need to provide the tools, but I'll bring the magic, if you get my drift...

Stop it, Village, this is no time for poorly placed jokes.

I came across an article on Craigslist, someone asking for magic help, the person offered to discuss payment and all I could think was what was wring to make someone with so little knowledge of the craft ask for help on Craigslist.

They even put (black, white, etc) obviously not knowing what they were dealing with when asking that, and asked for a permanent spell.

Which is a whole nother kit and kaboodle if you ask me. Permanent magic, and and a flamming leprechaun. Colour me green.

So, on the moral issue of selling your craft, where do you stand? Is selling the future possible, but draw the line at letting a muggle into the circle? Or is it alright to sell what your Goddess gave you? Or are you of the mind that the craft isn't for sale, (even if the tools are bloody expensive) and if we build a spell for someone its because they need something from the universe and you want to help them ask?
I'm of a mind that the price is spiritual. Both you and the other pay the price and if you aren't minding the Reed, the price will be high indeed.

Now, here comes another curve ball. Something to chew on for a while, if you decide to help the person out, do you want them present for the making of the magic? Or do you just hand over a finished Witches Ladder and tell them to have a nice day? Do you think their energy is needed, since it is their need? Or will the gods bless the magic without them?
